Cleopatra's Tomb

Elsabet carried a straw basket to Cleopatra who sat on her throne in her royal vestments. Elsabet bowed as she retreated from the throne and knelt next to Mari, Chrissa, and Iannia. Cleopatra opened the basket and slid her hand into the leaves. There was a rustling and then a hiss and the queen flinched as the serpent sank its fangs into her flesh. The snake slithered from the basket and moved across the throne room away from the handmaidens. They cautiously kept an eye on the serpent and then focused on Queen Cleopatra as she said her final words. "I see a glorious light. I shall journey far. The kingdom of Egypt now lives with the gods." Cleopatra slumped on the throne and was gone. The great Queen Cleopatra's tomb has never been found.
