My Life
Milton Brown
Most stories of criminals detail a life of crime. This is not one of those stories. The crimes for which Milton Brown was convicted of are not told in this book. He begins by detailing how his father separated him not just from his sisters and brothers, but from any hope of a normal childhood as well. As a child who lost all trust, he struggled to cope with all the hardships he was made to endure. During his decades long imprisonment, often in solitary confinement, he would eventually find hope by sharing his life experiences with young people at risk, and also by improving his mental health with the help of a few dedicated prison counselors. The autobiography of Milton Brown doesn't fit the typical stereotype of what makes someone subject to imprisonment or how a criminal may turn his life around.
