Intuition, a captivating album of short pieces for solo cello with piano or orchestra, has been conceived by Gautier Capuçon to "reflect the story of my life and follow the various stages in my emotional development".

As Gautier Capuçon says: "In music, in life, communication is the essence of everything and of anything ... You share something." This is the personal story he is sharing through the music he has chosen for Intuition.

It brings together much-loved numbers by composers such as Saint-Saëns, Fauré, Massenet, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov and Elgar with newer music by the King of Tango, Astor Piazzolla, the Italian cellist Giovanni Sollima (b.1962) and the pianist who partners Gautier Capuçon on five of the album's 15 tracks, Jérôme Ducros. The other tracks on Intuition are accompanied by the Orchestre de chambre de Paris under its music director, Douglas Boyd.

Intuition reveals a further, perhaps unexpected aspect of his talents ... In two of the song arrangements on the album, Dvorák's 'Lasst mich allein' and Fauré's 'Après un rêve', he supplies a vocal line to complement his cello line ... You heard it here first!
